Our Story

From childhood my ambition was to be a stylist and someday own a salon. Not in my wildest dreams did I even think of what my future would bring. I’ve been a stylist since 1983. Dawn’s Pizzazz was born on paper for my senior project in High School, and opened in June of 1986 with two employees, 5 chairs and 2 tanning beds. Since then Dawn’s Pizzazz has evolvedinto the DPZ Group and grown into a 2 location, 45+ employee business.   DPZ on West in Danbury is a 16 chair salon and day spa offering waxing, facials, body treatments, massage, nail services and permanent cosmetics.  DPZ North in Litchfield offers hair, make-up and waxing services.

The first risk for anyone going into business is actually doing it! I moved locations after 6 years and then after 3 1/2 years I knew I had to purchase a building or I was going to go broke!  My search took me into many locations that didn’t seem “perfect”. My real estate agent wanted me to look at 81 West Street and I really couldn’t do it. My father had died a few years before that right across the street from that location so I said no. His persistence and having no luck any place else took me there. When I walked into the front door the hair stood up on the back of my neck, and I knew at that moment that I had found a home for Dawn’s Pizzazz Artistic Group & Day Spa. I told him at that instant I wanted it! The doors finally opened and we have been in this location since 1997.

I have several staff members who have helped build the foundation of the organization and have been loyal for many, many years. It is important for individuals to be comfortable and happy in their workplace in order for them to be creative and prosperous. I hope that we have achieved that at DPZ.

My main goal when I opened my doors was to create an environment where people were content and to also serve the community in which we do business. Where people could come for expert advice, an exceptional service, and a refuge from the day to day. In the 26 years we have been in business I hope that you agree that we are more than just a salon and day spa. Our commitment to the community is a driving force at DPZ Group.  We have hosted and supported many charitable events over the years and will continue to do so in the years to come.

I hope that you share my vision and enjoy all that the DPZ Group has to offer.
